Open Letter: Dear Racism

If you know me, then you know I love writing letters. Writing letters seems to be the easiest and most direct way, for me, to put my (many) emotions and thoughts into words. All credit goes to my lovely Momma for instilling this in me. I aim to be courageous for us all and address certain ideas, motifs, beliefs, words, things; anything of value to you and me… in a flow-y, stream of conscious letter. Let me know what you think & what you would like to see next!

~ Keep Glowing, Adoris

Dear Racism,

Your words are coated in poison for some and chocolate for others. Some despise you, where others magnify you.

The pain you have caused for some can still be felt for generations to come and generations past.

But.

That pain felt by some is a great relief for others.

The people who feel the deadening poison and pain are laughed at by those who feel the relief and taste the goodness by spitting out their ignorance.

Racism, you are a problem in this homeland.

Some see it, feel it, and hear it…

Some see it, feel it, and hear it. And cry out from pain the venom has caused…

Some see it, feel it, and hear it. But say nothing…on both sides of the spectrum.

Some see it, feel it, and hear it. And capitalize on it…

Dear Racism,

You are seen. By some but not by all and that is why you are still a problem in this homeland.

Recently, you have been unearthed. Some use prideful as your synonym. But pride does not put others done does it? No, it never have and some predict it never will.

Dear Racism, we are coming for you. Soon the venomous pain will be no more and the chocolate taste will turn bitter. For people now know they ignorance and hatred is, simply put, wrong.

Sincerely,

CC
