Writing letters is almost as fun as receiving them. During the pandemic I had some extra time on my hands and was able to really embrace the “snail mail” mantra and began making and mailing handmade cards.
I was sending letters to California, Chicago, Louisiana, New York… everywhere. I definitely would not have been able to get my letters mailed to my friends and family without the United States Postal Service.

Right now the USPS is going through serious financial hardships. The present trouble have almost everything to do with the pandemic causing businesses to not send as many packages and letters like they usually would if everything was “normal.”
The USPS is an essential part of our nation. It is affordable for everyone to use. Not only does it allow me to send letters to my friends but it allows entrepreneurs to send their products and allows our veterans and elders in our community to receive the medication they need. The USPS ensures that people get their bills no time.
The USPS allows us all to have equal access to mailing and receiving, regardless of socioeconomic status.
With the pandemic still occurring around us all, the USPS is still needed more than ever! It was because of the USPS that I and so many other voters across the nation were still able to cast our votes safely. With another election occurring in November, people, like our elderly population and those with compromised immune systems, are going to need the USPS to ensure they can mail in their vote and can keep themselves and those close safe and healthy.
We should not have to choose between our civic responsibilities and our health right now. We cannot afford to let the USPS fall.
So, how can you help? Well, you can buy some stamps. You can show support by signing the petition by texting ‘USPS’ to 50409 and signing here too. Contact your senators and congressional representative and telling them you support relief funds for the USPS and they should too.
Lastly, if you decide to buy some stamps and want to mail some letters please let me know! I’m always looking for pen pals or for people who are just in need of having a fun letter (or two) in their box. So, if you want to be pen pals or need some smile mail click here!
